Students Program

The More Than Fitness (MTF) Students Program is a non-profit initiative dedicated to promoting physical and mental wellness within underserved communities, particularly focusing on the Brandywine School District. Established in 2018, this program provides a diverse range of activities aimed at building strong bodies, resilient minds, and unbreakable spirits among youth.

Program Objectives:

Physical Health: Improve overall fitness through structured activities such as bodybuilding, mixed martial arts, stretching, and Olympic weightlifting.

Mental Well-Being: Enhance participants' mental health through mindfulness practices, meditation, and social-emotional wellness initiatives.

Community Building: Foster a strong sense of community and connection among participants, encouraging team bonding and mentorship.

Prevention Education: Focus on tobacco, drug, and alcohol prevention education to empower youth with knowledge and resources.

Program Structure:

After-School Initiative: The program offers a free after-school initiative specifically designed for underserved areas. This initiative features a variety of activities that engage students in physical fitness while promoting personal development.

Diverse Activities: Participants can engage in mixed martial arts, bodybuilding, and structured stretching sessions, complemented by mindfulness practices to promote relaxation and mental clarity.

The Armor Fit program, part of the students' program, provides a dynamic MMA experience that blends striking techniques with Jiu-Jitsu for grappling and self-defense.

Social-Emotional Wellness: Emphasis is placed on social-emotional learning, helping students develop resilience, interpersonal skills, and a sense of belonging in a supportive environment.

Wilderness Exposure: The program includes opportunities for outdoor experiences that encourage participants to connect with nature, enhancing their appreciation for the environment and promoting mental wellness.

The Students Program is open to all high school students within underserved areas of the Brandywine School District. Whether looking to improve physical health, build confidence, or engage in community activities, this program welcomes participants from all backgrounds.
